Install a multimedia Film and Television tool for Ubuntu8.10 to play AVI videos. [Figure]

Ubuntu8.10 by default, the installed player cannot play files in movie format such as AVI. Therefore, we need to install a multimedia decoder for the player to support files in various formats. After installation, the default ToTem player can play video files in KMV format. Configure the movie player, change gstreamer to xine, and enter the command

Sudo apt-get remove totem-gstreamer-y

Sudo apt-get install totem-xine totem-mozilla-y

Install mplayer and its front-end smplayer:

Sudo apt-get install mplayer-fonts mozilla-mplayer smplayer

Looking at RM or RMVB, the system prompts that the database is loaded or the decoder has a problem:

Sudo ln-s/usr/lib/codecs // usr/local/lib/
