Fedora 9 is installed with java of the OpenJDK project by default. It can also be easily installed through yum and the effect is good. If you still want to install sun's java, the following lines also include:

* Openjdk

Su-c 'yum install java-*-openjdk'

* Sun's java

First, you must install the following libraries required by sun's java:

Su-c 'yum install compat-libstdc ++-33 compat-libstdc ++-1000'

After the library is installed, create the necessary connections:

Su-c '/sbin/ldconfig'

Sun's java (http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp), click the Download button near "java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 6"

** Note: If you want to use sun's java development kit installation to compile the java program, you need to download the "JDK 6 update 6' file. agree to the User Agreement and download the linux self-extraction file (not the rpm package ). the method is the same as the following. you only need to overwrite jre1.

Select your operating system type (32 or 64). Agree to the User Agreement and press continue

** Note: The following articles are based on the i586 package. If you use 64 as the system, you need to download the linux64 file and replace the file name as needed.

As shown in, you must download linux's self-extracting file (jre-6uu-linux-i585.bin) instead of rpm package.
