I haven't worked in Linux for a long time. Although I think Linux is the best programming environment, the desktop is always not as easy as Windows. Recently, ApacheWebServerandMySQLdatabase was created in Ubuntu8.04. It was found that this desktop system can completely replace Windows, and the operation is quite convenient. Many previously unsupported hardware is now well supported. The installation process is as follows: 1. Search on the Xerox website.

Recently, Apache Web Server and MySQL database have been established in Ubuntu 8.04, and it is found that this desktop system can replace Windows completely and the operation is quite convenient, many hardware that previously had poor support are now well supported. The installation process is as follows:
1. Search for the Printer Driver (http://www.support.xerox.com/) you want on the Xerox website, my Phaser 4510n, and select Linux CUPS Printing Package. After downloading the file, decompress the file and install readme.txt on the reference page.
2. Create a CUPS manufacturer (model) folder:
Mkdir/usr/share/cups/model
And copy the extracted model-specific driver model ppd file to this directory.
(You can COPY the file to the existing xerox directory/usr/share/ppd/splix/xerox ?)
3. Restart the cups service:
Killall-HUP cupsd
/Etc/init. d/cupsys restart
4. Use firefox to open the http: // 127.0.0.1: 631/CUP Management window, and choose Administration> Add printer> Input the name and description.
5. Select [Appsocket/HP JetDirect] from the Device menu, Click [Continue], Type socket: // 10.135.104.x (IP), Click [Continue], select the printer model from the Model section. the a "printer has been added successfully 'message will be displayed.
6. Set related options in the Configure of the printer, such as the default pape is A4, and repeat other settings. Print the test page, over!
