Linux Multi-User Function = one host + multiple terminals?

Dear Elders, I have recently been familiar with linux and are studying hard. I am confused for many days. I cannot find any information on the Internet. I hope you can kindly advise me. Linux, as a multi-user OS, has no doubt. My idea is: can I make this general microcomputer on my desk into a multi-terminal thing, so that if I add another monitor and keyboard, each person in the house can have a personal computer, isn't it beautiful ?! I don't know if my idea is feasible? If not, why? Thank you!
