Linux wireless NIC Driver-Linux general technology-Linux technology and application information. For more information, see the following section. Recently, the school started wireless networks, and ECHO also integrated three NETGEAR wireless routes, so it began to itch and wanted to use wireless networks under FC5.
I used to take a look at the guy around me, a group of ubuntuer. These guys have a happy leg, plug-and-play, NND, and I still have a long way to go.
My current version is the platform of the Chinese version. The wireless network adapter is Intel 2200BG. It is a common version. I checked several solutions online. I think there are mainly the following solutions. (Maybe not)
1. Ndiswrapper method. This method is a common solution, that is, compile and install Ndiswrapper first, and then use it to install the wireless NIC Driver in Windows.
2. Intel 2200BG driver method. This is what I found when I installed Ndiswrapper and searched Intel 2200BG online. It seems that a cool man wrote this model Nic.
3. the Firmware method, which I found on someone's blog, was also widely used on the Internet. (Final method)
I performed the following steps: Ndiswrapper first, and then switch to the Intel driver method halfway. Later, I found that method 2 was quite troublesome and I switched to the firmware method. It was very effective, but I didn't try it out at the end, then return to method 2, and the result is not passed. If you want to switch to method 3, you will find that the environment of method 3 is damaged, depressing, and depressing. (Hope the visitor is not dizzy) at last, use 3 to solve the problem.
Well, explain the process carefully:
Start to see Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 2200BG in System-> Administrator-> Network, but the type is Ethernet, which indicates recognition error, and then download the new firmware online
Http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/firmware.php
Decompress the package to/lib/firmware.
Update firmware
Rmmod ipw2200
Modprobe ipw2200
Then we will find that the 2200 type in the network is changed to wireless, which is good.
Add a new wireless connection in the device tab, and then forward, you can select the cute 2200BG Nic. Then, select the connection type based on your situation, for example, if I connect to our ECHO AP and select mode as Auto, the ssid is our ECHO, and then the Channel, if you know the best, you can only guess if it doesn't work, but it's generally or 11. The speed is 54Mbps. The key is your problem. Then, connect. How beautiful the world is.
The last important note is that if you have a combination of Fn + xx keys like mine to enable wireless connection, you must go to windows and start it!
Problems I encountered during debugging:
Channel problems.
I used method 2, and then the ipw2200 module was replaced, and the 802.11 module was also changed, so method 3 failed. Then, in order to restore these modules, I re-compiled the kernel, however, a compilation error occurs. I don't know how to solve the problem, so I just put the rm-rf folder in which the kernel is located, which is very violent and has serious consequences. I found that rpm failed to install the kernel source code package, % src what problems, check the Internet, reinstall the rpm-build package, as required, you can install it, And then install the source code package. Then refer to the recorded method of compiling the source code package, it has been edited for a long time and succeeded. Then, method 3 is successful.
