In Windows, you can use Exceed, Xmanager, or VNC to remotely access Fedora. The following describes how to implement these software. 1. Use Exceed software to implement 1. enable port 177 (XDMCP ). 2. Disable the Fc10 firewall, or enable port 177 After the firewall is enabled. Both TCP and UDP must be enabled. Method: System-& gt; management-& gt; firewall to enable fire prevention

In Windows, you can use Exceed, Xmanager, or VNC to remotely access Fedora. The following describes how to implement these software.

I. Use Exceed software to implement

1. enable port 177 (XDMCP ).

2. Disable the Fc10 firewall, or enable port 177 After the firewall is enabled. Both TCP and UDP must be enabled.

Method: Choose system> Manage> firewall. Open the firewall settings window, click the "other ports" tab, click "add", select "user-defined", and add the port number 177.

Note: First add tcp and then add udp

3. modify the configuration file:

3.1 modify the file:/etc/X11/xdm/Xaccess

Find "# * # any host can get a login window", remove "#" from the beginning of the sentence, and save.

3.2 modify the file:/etc/X11/xdm-config

Find "DisplayManager. requestPort: 0" and add "!" to the beginning of the sentence. Save.

Restart Fc to remotely access the Fc10 desktop through exceed on windows.

Ps: the installation of exceed in xp is not much said.

Important: after all the work is done, remember to run the xdm command. Otherwise, the exceed cannot find the linux machine, but it killed me!

2. Use Xmanager software to implement

1. for port settings, refer to the preceding section.

2. in Linux, modify the/etc/X11/xdm/Xaccess file and find the following statement:

# * # Any host can get a login window

Remove the comment "#" at the beginning of the sentence

3. Modify the/etc/X11/TPD. conf file and find the following statement:

# Distributions: Ship with this off. It is never a safe thing to leave

# Out on the net. Alternatively you can set up/etc/hosts. allow and

#/Etc/hosts. deny to only allow say local access.

Enable = false

Change Enable = false to Enable = true or Enable = 1.

4. Make sure the following statement exists. Because port 177 is the listening port of the xdmcp service we want to configure, we will see it later when configuring xmanager.

# The port. 177 is the standard port so better keep it that way

Port = 177

5. Modify the/etc/inittab file and run the following statement:

Id: 3: initdefault: Change 3 to 5. (If it was originally 5, you do not need to modify it)

6. Modify the last line of/etc/X11/xdm-config and add one before displayManager. requestPort: 0! No.

! DisplayManager. requestPort: 0

Restart fedora.

Ps: the installation of Xmanager in xp is not much to be said.

Iii. Using VNC software

VNC includes VNC viewer and VNC server. You can use vnc to remotely access linux in windows.

First, only install vnc viewer on windows and enable remote access on fedora. This is very simple. After vnc viewer is started, enter the linux IP address.

Type 2: Install vnc viewer on windows, install vnc server on fedora, and configure the server.
