Canonical Mark Shuttleworth recently announced that although Snappy is favored by Ubuntu, it will not abandon the deb package, and Snappy Ubuntu Core will be fully compatible with DEBs.
Mark recently announced that Canonical wants Ubuntu to be the best choice for vendors, providing OpenStack, LXD, and KVM software, while starting with Ubuntu 15.04 server to use online patched kernels.
In the desktop version, the DEB and Snappy packages will be available at the same time:
When asked if Snappy in Ubuntu would replace the DEB package, Mark Shuttleworth revealed that they are both applicable and that the. deb package works together.
"We build Snappy out of the built debs, so we can't build Snappy unless we first build the deb ,"
"Going forward every six months, we're re still gonna get an archive full of DEBs ."
