Modify the TFS2013 service account or password

As a full life cycle management solution for Microsoft software Development, TFS can be used in conjunction with Windows domain management to facilitate the management and authorization of users under multiple systems. If the domain account password for the service account set by TFS expires or if an inappropriate domain account is set, it can be cumbersome.

I. Service accounts inTFS

The primary service accounts that you can use in your TFS deployment are

Service account for 1.TeamFoundation Server

This service account is used for all Web services teamfoundation Server . This service account can be a local account, a domain account, LocalService in a workgroup, or NetworkService.

Data source account for 2.SQLServer Reporting Services

This service account retrieves report data from ReportingServices . This service account can be a local account, a domain account, or a LocalService.

Service account for 3.TeamFoundation Build

Use this service account when you configure the build and transfer build state information between the build controller and the build agent. This service account can be a local account, a domain account, or a LocalServicein a workgroup.

Second, the simplest domain account password expiration disposition scheme

The general domain account will default to the password expiration, and if you change the password after expiration, the service account forTFS will not work correctly.

In fact, the simplest way is to directly modify the domain account password, modify the success of the direct modification to the original password.

Third, modify the service account password or change the service account number

If we do need to modify the domain account password of the service or change it to a new domain account , we need to

Apply the modified new password in TFS or change the new domain account, both in the management console of TFS in a similar way, with the following steps:

1. Modify the service account for the teamfoundation Server

1> on the server that hosts the application tier, open the teamfoundation Management Console.

2> In the console, expand the server name and select application tier.

3> in the application tier pane, if you change the password, select Update account password, or select Change account.

4> in the new window that pops up, if you change the password, type a new password in password, otherwise select Use user account, type the name of the account in account name, and then in password, type the account's password, and then choose OK.

2. Modify the data source account for SQL Server Reporting Services

1> on the server that hosts the application tier, open the teamfoundation Management Console.

2> In the console, expand the server name and select application tier.

3> in the Application Tier pane, navigate toreportingservices Summary, and if you change the password Select Update account password, select Change account.

4> in the new window that pops up, if you change the password, type a new password in password, otherwise select Use user account, type the name of the account in account name, and then in password, type the account's password, and then choose OK.

3. Modify the service account for TeamFoundation Build

1> on the server that hosts the application tier, open the teamfoundation Management Console.

2> In the console, expand the server name and choose Build.

3> In the Build pane, if you change the password, select Update account password, or select Change account.

4> in the new window that pops up, if you change the password, type a new password in password, otherwise select Use user account, type the name of the account in account name, and then in password, type the account's password, and then choose OK.

5> If the build definition has a drop folder set, you need to grant write permissions to the new domain account.

Iv. Matters of note

After the 1> modification is complete, the TFS server needs to be restarted before the new configuration can eventually take effect.

2> Depending on the TFS installation components and features, there are other services involved, please refer to the relevant MSDN documentation for specific modifications.
