PS aux |grep MySQL
Kill all the listed processes, and then restart
Service MySQL Start
The reason may be mysqld did not start; service mysqld start.
This problem may persist because the configuration file is not correct.
Modify the/USR/MY.CNF (typically/ETC/MY.CNF)
[Mysqld]
Datadir=/usr/local/mysql/data
Socket=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
[Mysql.server]
User=mysql
Basedir=/usr/local/mysql
If There is not currently a section called [Client], add one at the bottom of the file and copy the socket= line under the [MYSQLD] section such as:
[Client]
Socket=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
Other questions:
1. Check the/ETC/RC.D/INIT.D/MYSQLD status first to see if M y S Q L has been started.
Also see if it is a permission issue.
2. Determine if your mysql.sock is in that position,
Mysql-u your MySQL user name-p-s/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
3, if it is a permission problem, change the permissions first #chown-R mysql:mysql/var/lib/mysql
[[email protected] ~]#/etc/init.d/mysqld start
Start MySQL: [OK]
[Email protected] ~]# mysql-uroot–p
