What just caught our attention is that the MySQL manual has modified the license, which is a change from MySQL 5.5.30 to 5.5.31, which affects all pages in the man folder in the source pack. The move is a clear indication of the very unfriendly behavior of Oracle. The new license differs enormously from the GPL and explicitly expresses no longer using the GPL license.
The old manual follows the GPLV2 license (MySQL 5.5.30 or earlier):
This documentation are free software; Can redistribute it and/or modify it only under the terms of the GNU general public License as published by the free S Oftware Foundation; Version 2 of the License.
The new manual page (MySQL 5.5.31 or later) uses the following licensing protocol:
This software and related documentation are provided under a license agreement containing in use and restrictions Re and are protected by the intellectual property laws. Except as expressly permitted in your license agreement or allowed by--by-and-May-use, copy, reproduce, translate, BR Oadcast, modify, license, transmit, distribute, exhibit, perform, publish, or display any part, in any form, or by any MEA Ns. Reverse Engineering, Disassembly, or decompilation of this software, unless required by-for-interoperability, is Prohi Bited.
The following figure is a version description of the two different manual pages that were obtained using the RESOLVEIP tool: The man page in 5.5.30 and the Mans page in 5.5.31.
