The latest CentOS version is 6.5, which provides the iso image for minimal installation (32-bit 285 M, 64-bit 322 M), the previous 5. version x is not provided separately. it is a good news for us to develop these products. whether it is download or installation, it saves a lot of time and saves a lot of storage space. The 64-bit version is installed with WMware (version 7.1.4). all the way down, except for the lack of gcc, kernel-devel, make and other packages (the latest CentOS version is 6.5 at least, provides a minimal installation of iso images (32-bit 285 M, 64-bit 322 M), the previous 5. version x is not provided separately. it is a good news for us to develop these products. whether it is download or installation, it saves a lot of time and saves a lot of storage space. After 64-bit installation, WMware (7.1.4) is used for installation. all the way down, except for the lack of gcc, kernel-devel, make, and other packages (to minimize the installation version, there are fewer packages, normally, select "Continue" to skip). The installation is quite smooth and fully automated. Note: If you want to use a graphical installation interface during installation, the memory setting must be greater than 652 MB. Http://wiki.centos.org/Manuals/ReleaseNotes/CentOS6.2 has a detailed description. The installer needs at least 392 MB of memory to work. Text mode will automatically be used if the system has less than 652 MB of memory. After the installation is complete, the system restarts automatically. the system prompts the following information: Installing VMware Tools, please wait... Mount: special device/dev/hda does not exist Mount: block device/dev/sr0 is write-protected, mounting read-only ./Run_upgrade.sh: line 21: file: command not foundI thought about it carefully and did not see any errors during the installation process. I verified the hash of the iso file. correct, the installation package is complete. After a google attack, I couldn't find the relevant information, so I had to do it myself... after re-checking the settings, we found that a CD/DVD (IDE) was added to the hardware settings and autoinst was loaded. iso, another CD/DVD 2 (IDE) mounted the installation image CentOS-6.2-x86_64-minimal.iso, re-built a virtual machine, found that there is a prompt "CentOS 64-bit detected. this operating system will use Easy Install. ", I guess the problem may be caused by this quick installation (because the currently installed image is a minimal installation version, not the full version ). I guess it's just a matter of practice. Therefore, a new virtual machine is created. select "I will install the operating system later" in the installation image. ", after the creation, the installation image is set in the hardware settings and manually installed all the way, which is a little slower than the automatic installation. after the installation is complete, manually restart and start successfully, it seems that the guess is correct. It is best to configure the network during the installation process, because this minimal version does not contain the network setting tool for the graphic interface, manual configuration is not very convenient, the following is my above configuration: vi/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 DEVICE = eth0 NM_CONTROLLED = yes ONBOOT = yes HWADDR = 00: 0c: 29: 5b: 1c: de TYPE = Ethernet BOOTPROTO = none IPADDR = 192.168.1.223 NETMASK = 255.255.255.0 PREFIX = 24 GATEWAY = 192.168.1.1 DNS1 = 192.168.1.1 DEFROUTE = yes 20174_failure_fatal = yes IPV6INIT = no NAME = "System eth0" UUID = 5fb06bd0-0bb0-7ffb-45f1-d6edd65f3e03 USERCTL = noVi/etc/sysconfig/network NETWORKING = yes HOSTNAME = localhost. localdomainVi/etc/resolv. conf Nameserver 192.168.1.1After the network is configured, you can use yum to install some common software: Yum install vim Yum install wget Yum install zip Yum install unzip Yum install man Yum install gcc Yum install make Yum install setuptool Yum install system-config-network-tui Yum install system-config-firewall-tui...... Install the gnome gui: Yum groupinstall "X Window System" Yum groupinstall "Desktop" Yum groupinstall "Chinese Support"After the installation is complete, use "init 5" to start the GUI.
