At the Web March 25 Expo held in San Francisco in 2.0, Michael Abbott of Palm announced that the company was preparing developers to start playing their imagination on the Mojo SDK.
He also demonstrated how developers use the stream of information services provided by the Palm Pre notification and reminder server. The spokesman did not deny that Palm would provide virtual machines to run older versions of Palm OS applications on webOS.
"Mojo communication service is a push-in notification service that developers can use to send status updates, just as they receive an instant message," said Paul Cousineau, webOS's product director ".
If this sounds like Apple's event technology for the iPhone 3.0 system just presented, yes, but their operating mechanisms are slightly different: the notification service of Apple will pop up a window in any application program running like a text message, while Mojo and webOS use a notification bar, which does not interrupt the application.
Palm apparently hopes to attract a large number of developers to develop applications through webOS. In addition, this will enable developers familiar with Html, CSS, and Javascript technologies to build webOS applications to scan the mobile phone market in quantity.
Currently, the download of Palm webOS is free of charge. You only need to sign a development agreement with Palm.
