(Totem-gstreamer can play DVDs by default, but there are some bugs)
1 install libdvdread4
Sudo apt-get install libdvdread4
Note: If you have installed Ubuntu Restricted Extras before, this component is installed by default (sudo apt-get install Ubuntu-restricted-extras)
2. Install the playback DVD software.
Gksu/usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh
After the installation is successful, re-launch the DVD and insert it. The default movie player of Ubuntu should be able to play the DVD and play the directory of the DVD. If you are still confused, try VLC.
