Recently, RedHat joined hands with Chicago Venture Capital Corporation Adams Street Partners to invest in JasperSoft, a business intelligence software company.
Red Hat did not disclose the investment amount, but the total investment in this round was $12.5 million, more than the first two rounds.
This investment shows that the red hat for providing Enterprise Linux and JasperSoft for providing open source BI have established an in-depth partnership.
On September 18, June this year, RedHat announced that it had embedded JasperSoft's Business Intelligence kit into the Red Hat Network, a Network-based Linux deployment, planning, and management platform, responsible for Enterprise Linux release, end user self-configuration, software update, and software Renewal Upon expiration.
JasperSoft's suite will be used for the Satellite version of the Red Hat Network, which can be installed locally and placed behind the firewall of Red Hat Enterprise Linux users.
RedHat customers need a wider range of Preset reports and Custom reports ". Katrinka Mc Callum, vice president of RedHat management and security business, said in June 19.
Nick Halsey, vice president of marketing at JasperSoft, said in an interview that Redhat's investment decisions are not just financial decisions. This is part of our evolving partnership ."
RedHat hopes to use the key information obtained during the Linux subscription service management process for reporting and analysis to make it easier to deploy Linux on a large scale.
Through Product refinement, reports are customized for problem management, publishing information in the form of licenses, configuration, and average system downtime and running time, the JasperSoft tool can optimize Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers. With High Availability Information, the system administrator can manage a larger user base.
In July December 9, JasperSoft released Business Intelligence kit version 3.1, which enhanced the plotting and visualization functions.
Developers can use the plotting function to create a chart in the displayed data to reflect the metrics that Linux administrators are most interested in, such as the normal operating time of the system. Before this version, the system administrator needs to customize charts by using specific project code.
The new version also provides new public APIs for Maps and geographic information, just like charts.
In addition, Version 3.1 has confirmed that it will run based on Sun's Java application server GlassFish.
One of JasperSoft's early investors was SAP, followed by Morgenthaler Ventures, DCM, Partech International, and Scale Venture Partners.
The path to open-source BI software has been hard. As the functions become more and more powerful, manufacturers are attempting to transition the market from developer users to enterprise end users.
