RPM 5.0.0 code can be transplanted to various mainstream platforms, including BSD, Linux, Solaris, Mac OS X, and Windows/Cygwin. by default, RPM is compressed by Gzip. you can select Bzip2 for compression. LZMA compression is now supported. RPM 5.0.0 supports the XAR package format.
