Six questions Android developers have to face

A survey of mobile app development shows that Androdid developers ' interest in Google's mobile operating system platform is declining. While 79% of developers still say they are "very interested" in Android, the survey report shows some indications that Android will have a big change in market share over the past 2012-2013 years as problems arise. Addressing these issues is significant for Google to maintain the vitality of the Android ecosystem. Also, independent developers should be aware that these issues will make their business plans difficult.

1. The cracking problem of Android

Today, the Android version of the user's hands is different. There are a lot of articles about how developers encode the lowest generic version (which is now probably version 2.3). However, there are more than one problem with Android version cracking in the operating system. There is no uniform standard on SDK development tools. You might want to encode six sizes of screens, different buttons, keyboards, and maybe no buttons at all ... Well, you can encode all of these devices on a branch of code (which is clumsy and not easy to implement), or develop multiple versions (which sounds bad). Of course, if the return is good, it is not possible to do so, but in fact it is not.

2. Return on investment

This seems to be the established rule: Android apps tend to have less profit than IOS apps. This may be because people pay more attention to its functionality than to the quality of the app when they buy a cell phone, but that means less profit for the developer. If developers have limited time and resources, and when they need to choose a platform, the foundation that the platform has built will become less important, and they will be more concerned with just: "Can I make money?" ”

3. Solve security problems

In terms of security, iOS Apple, which has always been a safe one, has to face security issues, not to mention the need for Android apps to face this problem in terms of security, whether as an independent developer or as an enterprise developer, and the best way to find a real rescue plan, for example, Android Application Dex Shell Technology

4. Number of cloned applications

Let's assume that you have a great app that can do something different, maybe be able to go online to a social network, work with PIM data, or provide a new way to play. Then you have a way to make your app stand out from thousands of apps. But then there will be countless developers who develop clones to pull down the price of your app and compete with you. The Android store is almost a lawless society. If we do not solve this problem and let developers face unfair competition, how many developers are willing to do application promotion in it?

5. Which store do you choose to sell your application?

google play shop, Amazon android store , Barnes and noble ' S nook apps ... There are a lot of places you can choose to sell your apps. This is a cracking problem in the market, and sometimes it can make the device model confusing. This means creating more versions, protocols, and so on, which can be a headache for your job. On the contrary,,ios  and  Windows  phones do not have so many complicated work to do.

Companies like EA and Ubisoft may be able to cope with these problems, but it's not possible for individual developers to spend all their time in the store's management. Sometimes, when the platform is no longer in the rapid development phase, open and free is not a good choice.

6. Solving competition Problems

Today, the Windows phone is evolving. AT/T will also launch an impact on Android's ecosystem with Lumia 900 and HTC Titan 2 in April. Android will be in danger of being abandoned by developers if it has nothing to do with the above problems. Developers might be able to switch to other Windows Phone platforms and think about what the new platform can do, what the development environment is, and whether it will be able to make a big profit in the new market. While foreign moons may not be as round as their own, Windows phone will dig a lot of developers if they can deliver higher returns and long-term good returns for developers.

In fact, the survey says the number of developers interested in Windows Phone is growing, and 40% of developers involved in the survey say they are interested in developing applications for Microsoft's mobile platform. This number is already more than half the number of developers interested in the Android platform.

Although the Android platform still occupies a large market share, but if there is no good solution to the above problems, future development will be difficult.
