Skills in using Perl? Is it useful?

 

1. I am confused. I used to use C ++ for my graduation project. I applied for a written question C. I came to the Company and asked me to develop Java. (Web development for network companies)

2. After one year of Java, no one took over this part because the children's shoes who made log analysis left. (shell and Perl script development), the leaders asked me to pick it up first, if a Linux development colleague has time, hand it over to him.

As a result, the colleague did not care about this part for various reasons.

So I have been doing it all the time. At the same time, the gap between log analysis is also allocated to my java project.

My thinking has been jumping between Java, Perl, and shell. (When I started to get familiar with Perl, I always felt that my mind was not enough. Now it's better .)

3. What the current leaders mean is to let me grab this piece and do a good job in log analysis. But I found that I just wrote shell and Perl scripts, and I have become a skilled engineer with no technical skills. I would like to know the traffic of other large network companies, how does log analysis work? Isn't it a temporary requirement to write a Perl script?

4. Now, there are more and more such demands. I have spent all my time writing scripts, and I am no longer involved in Java project development.

I am worried that I will switch to Java in the future. I am proficient in scripts. can I find a good job?

In addition, I graduated from my master's degree. I felt that my abilities were not fully utilized. It was a waste of resources and I was very confused!
