I downloaded and installed Ubuntu7.10 yesterday, and found that the startup speed was slow. I looked for a lot of information and found it was FileSystemCheck (Fsck). The solution is as follows: 1. enter sudogedit/etc/fstab2. in Terminal and find the following text: #/dev/sda1UUID = 6E50BE5450BE22AF/media/sda1
I downloaded and installed Ubuntu 7.10 yesterday, and found that the startup speed became very slow.
I found a lot of information and found the cause of File System Check (Fsck ).
The solution is as follows:
1. Enter sudo gedit/etc/fstab in Terminal.
2. Find the following text:
#/Dev/sda1
UUID = 6E50BE5450BE22AF/media/sda1 ntfs defaults, umask = 007, gid = 46 0 1
3. Change the last 1 to 0.
The result is as follows:
#/Dev/sda1
UUID = 6E50BE5450BE22AF/media/sda1 ntfs defaults, umask = 007, gid = 46 0 0
4. Find all the Windows disk systems, such as NTFS, Vfat, and FAT32, and change the final number to 0.
5. Restart the disk.
6. In fact, the problem is that FSCK checks all disk partitions by default, and as a dedicated Unix/Linux disk tool, it will detect Windows partitions and cause errors, thus slowing down the startup.
Modify the Grub settings as follows:
1. Enter sudo gedit/boot/grub/menu. lst in Terminal.
2. Find the following line:
Kernel/boot /...
3. Change splash to nosplash. The result is as follows:
Kernel/boot /...
4. Save the disk and exit.
