Solution to Ubuntu connection to Windows host through VNC

The environment is as follows: the client is a notebook and the system is Ubuntu11.04; the host is a BT host and Windows XP. You want to check the BT download status in the interval ~ Of course, you can use RDP to connect to XP. However, Windows XP can only support single-user session, which means that if a user on XP is already downloading, there is no way to log on to this user account to view the Download Status of bt. Therefore, we still use VNC to install a RealVNC server on the BT host.

The environment is as follows:

The client is a notebook, the system is Ubuntu 11.04, the host is a BT machine, Windows XP. You want to check the BT download status in the interval ~

Of course, you can connect to XP through RDP. However, Windows XP can only support single-user session, which means that if a user on XP is already downloading, there is no way to log on to this user account to view the Download Status of bt. Therefore, we still adopt VNC, and install a Real VNC server on the BT host. There is also a win7 host in the house, and a vnc viewer can fully control the host. The problem now is how to allow Ubuntu to control the bt server through vnc.

I tried the official rpm package of real vnc, but there are too many dependent packages to install (I failed to use alien), and there is no direct installation of real vnc in the source. You can only find another method. Ubuntu 11.04 comes with a remote service client that can connect to a remote host. After a try, the vnc Protocol cannot be selected. It is gray. It doesn't matter. Install a vncviewer package. The command is as follows:

Sudo apt-get install vncviewer

Then, Select vnc, fill in the IP address of the remote host, and select connection. At this time, the problem occurs. The unexpected Password box cannot be understood, and the connection protocol is set, it should be okay. Is it a problem of system compatibility? That's depressing !!!

Finally, I couldn't help it. I connected it through vnc viewer in win7 and found that there was a configuration on the vnc server. www.linuxidc.com is the version of vnc protocol, which can be vnc4 or vnc3.3, this allows me to see the hope, because when an error is reported during the Ubuntu connection, we can see the words vnc 3.3. Then, change the vnc Protocol version of the server, restart the following vnc server on the service panel, and connect again on Ubuntu. the long-awaited Password box appears. Enter the password and press Enter, done !!!

Note: There are many ways to implement mutual control between Ubuntu and Windows, but the implementation of vnc is indeed the easiest and cheapest, and VNC not only guarantees, it is also compatible with the mutual control between Linux and Windows, and the effect is very good, very suitable for families or small and medium-sized enterprises to adopt.
