To install Fedora 8 on my HP notebook 6510B, I paid a heavy price for it. However, it was a pleasure to complete the installation and make it a work platform!

Install Fedora 8 in this document. Prepare the ISO image and hard disk partition!

ISO can be downloaded at http://www.linuxidc.com/linux/2007-11/8852.htm. My hard disk partition is [C:] [D:] [E:], [RECOVERY] [OS _TOOLS]. Because the system RECOVERY disk has been burned to a DVD disk, in addition, the original BASIC system is not used. Therefore, the so-called recovery disk does not have any meaning. To this end, you need to delete these partitions. When I start the disk with the rain tree tool, I enter pq8. When the English version is 0, He prompts me that my hard disk has an error and asks if it has been fixed. I want to fix it without thinking about it. This action has resulted in a fatal error! The worst consequence is that my [D:], [E:] disks are all lost, and even if I return to VISTA, these two partitions cannot be restored! In a hurry, I used a lot of disk tools and reported that the disk was faulty or invalid, which undoubtedly caused me to lose my hard work in the previous week. Unfortunately, due to the Partition Table error on the entire hard disk, we are lucky that the C drive is safe. I quickly copied a copy of the C drive GHOST. Wow, I made a large file with 26 GB of stuff GHOST! In this way, with a depressing mood, I deleted my GB hard drive, and re-partition and format it! This cost is too high!

The new hard disk partition is: [C: Primary] [D: logic] [E: logic] [unused space: Primary]. This unused space plan is allocated to Fedora 8, it will be divided into two zones, one swap zone, one root partition, and the standard BOOT partition will also be put into the root partition! The final hard disk will be like this: [C: Master] [D: logic] [E: logic] [/: ext3: Master], [swap partition: swap: Master]

Restore the GHOST file to drive C, and then start the installation process of my Fedora 8!

1. Extract two files vmlinuz and initrd. img from the ISOLINUX directory of the ISO image file and put them in a directory named boot!
2. I put the iso image file in the f8 directory under the E: disk and put the boot folder in the f8 directory!
3. Use a system tool disk boot into, of course, this needs to set CD-ROM boot in the motherboard!
4. The GRUB boot tool is included in this system tool disk. Of course, you can also use WINGRUB. However, I have not used it in VISTA. Is it feasible? I have not tested it!
5. On the GRUB interface, press the C key to enter the command line mode.
6. Use
Root (hd0, 5) # enter the edisk
Kernel/f8/boot/vmlinuz acpi = off # load the kernel
Initrd/f8/boot/initrd. img # Load Image
