Sun released the latest Solaris operating system Solaris 10 5/08 today. after one year of cooperation with Intel, Sun has greatly enhanced compatibility with Intel hardware and added many new features, updated applications and device drivers. Sun's operating system was originally called SunOS, and its appearance was mainly attributed to Bill Joy, one of Sun's founders. In 1977, Bill Joy, a Berkeley graduate student, completed the Berkeley UNIX version, that is, BSD (its modern derivative versions include FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, and even Apple's Mac OS X operating system are also largely attributed to BSD). SunOS is mainly based on BSD, switch from SunOS 5.0 to System V Release 4, and the new name is Solaris 2.0. After Solaris 2.6, SUN deleted 2 from the version number, and SunOS 5.10 (Solaris 2.10) was called Solaris 10.

Outstanding achievements of Bill Joy in the early years include the realization of the TCP/IP, vi editor, cshshell and NFS of BSD, and also played an important role in the development of the iSCSI processor and Java language, he also rewritten the entire BSD in a week based on Nerds 2.0.1.
