The installation of Fedora8 encountered a very difficult problem. Let's take a look at how to solve it? -- Linux general technology-Linux technology and application information. For details, refer to the following section.
Install Fedora8 on the XP system through hard disk
Hardware:
Notebook ACER4520G
1 GB memory, 120 hard disk.
1, I downloaded the Fedora-8-i386-DVD.iso in drive C, with PartitionMagic 8.0 from drive D 15 GB space for F8 use.
2. Follow the instructions in the tutorial to start installation.
Grub> find/isolinux/vmlinuz
(Hd0, 0)
Grub> kernel (hd0, 0)/isolinux/vmlinuz
Grub> initrd (hd0, 0)/isolinux/initrd. img
Grub> boot
3. Customize partitions during installation. The partitions are as follows:
/Boot 100 M ext3/dev/sda8
/13.9G ext3/dev/sda9
Swap 1G/dev/sda10
4. At the beginning, the installation was still smooth. After the customized software was successfully installed, the following error occurred when you needed to re-boot other configurations:
Error 1: Restart to go to GRUB boot and choose to start Fedora8. The screen displays the following error: Booting 'ora ora (2.6.23.1-42. fc8 )' Root (hd0, 7) Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83 Kernel/vmlinuz_2.6.23.1-42.fc8 ro root = LABEL =/1 rhgbquiet [Linux-biImage, setup = 0x2c00, size = 0x1e0320] Initrd/initrd-2.6.23.1-42.fc8.img [Linux-initrd @ 0x37d1700 0x2d878a bype] Uncompressing Linux... Error 2: After I restart, I try to press the "e" key to modify the command line "Root =/LABEL =/1" to "root =/dev/sda9" and then boot At this time, you can continue to execute. However" Enabling local filesystem quotas [OK] Enabling/etc/fstab swap: [0 K] It stops. It crashes...
Note: 1. There was only error 1 during installation a few days ago, after you change the command line "root =/LABEL =/1" to "root =/dev/sda9", boot will smoothly enter the Fedora8 system, Today I have re-installed it many times, and I started to see errors 1 and 2. 2. I installed it on a CD later, and the error is the same as that on the hard disk.
This problem has not been solved in five days, and many predecessors have helped me in the forum. I have not solved it yet. Please help me to analyze where my problem is located? I encountered this problem when I first learned Linux, and it was very difficult. The operating system is not installed yet, but I would like to continue. I must solve this problem. Thank you ..
