Article title: the network management tool allows the network card to switch freely on the hand. Linux is a technology channel of the IT lab in China. Includes basic categories such as desktop applications, Linux system management, kernel research, embedded systems, and open source.

In many cases, you need to enable or disable the Nic device. In most cases, you need to restart the NIC to modify network parameters and MAC address information, even if you change the IP address in Windows 98 and the system prompts you to restart the computer, you can disable the NIC and enable it again to avoid restarting. However, manual operations are required to enable and disable NICs in actual use, which makes automation troublesome. how can we enable and disable NICs automatically? The answer is yes. Today, we invite readers to use two gadgets to switch the Nic freely, of course, with these two gadgets, it is no longer difficult to automate the switch Nic through batch processing.

  1. DEVCON. EXE:

The DevCon utility is a command line utility that can replace the Device Manager. With DevCon, we can enable, disable, restart, update, delete, and query a single device or a group of devices. DevCon also provides information related to driver developers but cannot be seen in Device Manager.

We can. The following describes how to enable or disable a local Nic.

Step 1:Query the name of the local Nic in the Device Manager, and right-click it and select "properties ".

Step 2:Click the "details" tab in the open Nic properties window. here we can see a line under "device sample ID". in this line, find DEV, then record the following information, for example, the author is DEV_1031. (1)

Step 3:Copy the devcon.exe program downloaded from the connected address to C: \ windows \ system32.

Step 4:In actual use, we use the following command to enable or disable the device. These commands can be entered in the command prompt window or directly placed in a batch file for execution.

Devcon disable * DEV_1031 * disable the DEV1031 device
Devcon enable * DEV_1031 * enables the DEV1031 device. (2)

In fact, devcon can not only switch Nic devices, but we should know that each device in the operating system has a DEV value. for most devices, we can query its DEV value through the Device Manager, then, use devcon to enable and disable it.
