Product Manager 's logical thinking determines the future development of the product scale and product cycle, as the driving force to determine the fate of the product, these three logical ways of thinking you must know.

Everyone has their own different ways of thinking, the way of thinking determines the level and height of the problem. As a product manager who relies on thinking as its core competency, it needs a stronger logical thinking ability. And this kind of logical thinking ability is needed on the basis of cognition, and constantly practice exercise and strengthen to form their own complete thinking system. Introduce several logical thinking ways for everyone to refer to the study.

1, air, rain, umbrella-decision-making thinking

Product Manager as the head of the product, every day will face all aspects of decision-making, product positioning, project scheduling, design choices and so on. These decisions require the ability of a product manager to have a super-fast decision-making mindset.

Empty, rain, umbrella: As the name implies when you want to go out, look up, sky clouds, thunder, like the rhythm of rain immediately, so go out with an umbrella. ”

Here the "Look up the Sky", is to understand their own environment, that is, to detailed analysis of their external environment. The result is "like rain," which leads to self-analysis and the corresponding action in analyzing your external environment. You can see that in this thinking process, the perspective is from the outside to the inside, from now to the future. Of course, the result is that it may rain or it may not rain. On this basis, we conclude that "take an umbrella with you when you go out", and think about why this is "take an umbrella" because it is possible that only an umbrella or an umbrella is more convenient, and these factors are taken into account and finally come to the conclusion "take an umbrella". In short, we usually go through these steps when making decisions:

Empty: Grasp the facts and the status quo

Rain: Explanations, predictions

Umbrella: Action, proposal

As an example:

When we design a product, the home page will consider the user's portrait, to do a full analysis of user characteristics, to understand the user status quo, master user status, the thinking process here is said empty. Through the analysis of the status quo to find the user's pain point and customer expectations, the process is the rain thinking process. According to user expectations to meet the status, in the product design to find the best super-expected to meet user demand for product solutions, this is the umbrella.

2, 5w1h-key thinking

5W1H is what we often say [who/where/why/when/what/how]. This needless to say, we basically know, but some people will say that this is also a way of thinking. As a product Wang is a very important job is to communicate with the departments, and how to make their own expression more focused, more efficient? Is the knowledge, is also the product manager must have the ability. Let's take a closer look at 5W1H's key thinking, where the 6 elements can be said to be integral, while one more element will make your expression confusing. In the analysis of the project, 5W1H can help you get to know the problem point more quickly and find an optimized solution, so this seemingly easy-to-use way of thinking is also an essential thinking tool for product managers.

Matrix analysis method to visualize the problem

The matrix analysis method is to finger the vertical axis and subdivide the four quadrants to arrange the thinking factors, and then classify and analyze them. For example: PPM analysis (product portfolio management), to the horizontal axis to represent the market share, with vertical axes to represent the growth rate, divided into four quadrants, to manage the product life cycle and future planning product development trend!

When you meet a tricky problem and don't know how to do it, you can draw a matrix diagram to help you analyze the problem. In the actual work commonly used keywords, such as satisfaction, problem points, activity, turnover, etc., included in the axis, analysis of the causal relationship. Here we introduce two commonly used matrices.

1. SWOT matrix

Analyze product advantages, weaknesses, opportunities, crisis, can do product development path, give analysis reference.

2, time four quadrant matrix

Combining urgency and importance can not only help you to use your time effectively, but also utilize the matrix when you prioritize.

3. Fermi Reasoning

The so-called "Fermi reasoning" refers to the use of the limited information and knowledge available at hand to deduce a large answer.

For example, want to know "McDonald's a year to sell hamburgers and an atom bomb, which contains more heat?" "The usual approach is to Google, to look at the heat of the burger and the heat of the bomb and compare it, but what would you do if we assumed that there was no such direct data?" The only thing to use here is Fermi reasoning.

The thinking process is as follows:

1. How many hamburgers can McDonald's sell in a year? 2. How many calories does each burger contain? 3. How many calories does an atom contain?

Data hunting:

1. McDonald's has written about 75 billion hamburgers sold by 1989 and 95 billion hamburgers sold within 1993 years, which means McDonald's sells 5 billion hamburgers a year.

2, everyone tastes different. Healthy-minded people may order only 1 salad burgers, while those who overeat may point to 1 Big Macs at a time. For simplicity, we're setting up a cheeseburger for everyone. According to McDonald's official website, the calories per cheeseburger are 300 calories.

3. According to Wikipedia data, the atomic bomb that was named "Fat" in Nagasaki, Japan, generated 35,000 tonnes of calories, or 2.1 times 10 square calories.

To create a formula:

1. The total amount of calories that people get from hamburgers is calculated by multiplying the number of hamburgers sold each year (5 times 10 9), multiplied by the calories per burger (300 calories/each).

2. Using this result divided by the amount of heat released by each atom bomb (2.1 times 10 of the 10 calories/capsules), you can calculate how many times the heat atom bomb

concluded that:

This means that, from an energy point of view, the McDonald's burger sold for a year contains heat equivalent to 70 atomic bombs.

In Fermi reasoning, the important thing is where you start to think and how you will start pushing the theory. Often exercise their own "Fermi presumption" thinking training, in a limited time, unlimited access to the right answer, cultivate the ability to think independently, and then develop the ability to solve problems. You can see the "super thinking" through science thinking to get the answers you want to know, for the promotion of reasoning ability, data analysis ability is very helpful.

Product manager's logical thinking determines the future development of the product scale and product cycle, as the decision-making product fate, we hope that their products are enduring quality, even if the product offline can also let people relish. So work hard, no super-like thinking, how to do the product of great praise!
