Yesterday, the third and last Alpha Beta versions of Maverick Meerkat Ubuntu 10.10 were released, and there was not much change compared with alpha2. In many aspects, the improvements are concentrated on the netbook version. Major improvements include the adoption of kernel 2.6.35, the latest GNOME 2.32 development interface, and Kubuntu as KDE4.5, as well as a series of new software packages and new software centers. We will soon see a more mature Beta version.
Ubuntu 10.10 Alpha 3 is officially upgraded to the system Kernel based on Linux Kernel 2.6.35-14.19. The latest integrated components include GNOME 2.31.6 and KDE 4.5 RC3 (Kubuntu) firefox 3.6.8, Transmission BitTorrent 2.03, Xfce4 4.6.2 (Xubuntu), and so on. Shotwell is also used as the default photo management program in netbooks.
The Ubuntu Software Center has changed a lot. With the OneConf tool for configuring data network synchronization, the previous test version added two New sections: What's New and Featured, and the historical plug-ins have been improved.
In addition, the Btrfs file system can be safely used during new installation through manual partitioning. Of course, you must first create an EXT3 or EXT4 boot partition.
Ubuntu 10.10 will release the Beta version on April 9, September 2, the RC candidate version on April 30, and the final official version on April 9, October 10.
