Ubuntu now supports new Application menus. GNOMEShell recently launched a new application menu supporting Ubuntu. Last month, GNOME3.4 was released. More GNOME applications have started to use this application menu. The GNOME official wiki introduces the purpose of this menu "to provide relevant applications as a whole for action and option access ".
