UBUNTU14 MySQL forgot password processing


ubuntu14.04 forgot the password for the MySQL user (root). Next:


1) Stop the MySQL service

$ sudo stop MySQL


2) Start Mysqld_safe

$ sudo/usr/bin/mysqld_safe--skip-grant-tables&

$ mysql--user=root MySQL

mysql> Update user Set Password=password (' New password ') where user= ' root ';

mysql> flush Privileges;

Mysql> exit


3) Kill Mysqld_safe Process

$ ps-ef|grep Mysqld_safe

$ sudo kill-9 pid_of_mysqld_safe


4) Restart MySQL

$ sudo start MySQL


5) log in to MySQL

$ mysql-u root-p New password-h localhost
