The default installation on Ubuntu is NETCAT-OPENBSD, not the classic netcat-traditional. Many of the online examples are in the Netcat-traditional example. sudo apt- get -y-install netcat-traditional (Install Legacy NC) , set the default NC, select /bin/nc.traditional:sudo Update-alternatives--config NC (input under terminal)
To set the default NC:
