The default installation time zone is EST.

 

Root @ ubuntu:/etc # date

Mon Nov 7 14:46:55 EST 2011

 

Change to Shanghai time zone

 

Root @ ubuntu:/etc # cp/usr/share/zoneinfo/Asia/Shanghai/etc/localtime

 

Reset the system time.
