There are a lot of installation instructions on OpenWebMail on the Internet, I have not succeeded in practice, and it is very complicated and many settings. In fact, it is easy to implement a small email system on the javastuserver. It can be used by small companies or on campus without too many settings. That is to say, you can use the mail client to receive a lot of online installation instructions on OpenWebMail. I have not succeeded in practice, and it is complicated and many settings.

In fact, it is easy to implement a small email system on Ubuntu server. It can be implemented without too many settings.

It is especially suitable for small companies or campus users. You can use the mail client to send and receive emails, or use the web.

The following is my installation method.

Install OpenWebMail on Ubuntu Server 9.04 and use it on the campus LAN.

1. first install Ubuntu Server 9.04. during installation, select LAMP (required) Mailserver (required) OpenSSH (Remote Control) (optional)

For more information about the installation process, visit the Internet.

2. after the server is installed, run the following command to install the relevant software to use it with openwebmail.

Sudo apt-get install perl

Sudo apt-get install libauthen-pam-perl

Sudo apt-get install libconvert-asn1-perl

Sudo apt-get install libmd5-perl

Sudo apt-get install libnet-ldap-perl

Sudo apt-get install perl-suid

Sudo apt-get install wwwconfig-common

Sudo apt-get install libpg-perl

3. download the latest openwebmail installation package from the http://openwebmail.org/openwebmail/download/debian/

For example, owm2.53-2.deb

4. sudo dpkg-I owm2.53-2.deb

5. sudo rm/var/www/openwebmail/index.html

Sudo ln-s/var/www/openwebmail/redirect.html/var/www/openwebmail/index.html

6. restart the server using sudo reboot

7. enter http: // localhost/openwebmail in IE to test the http://ubuntuone.cn. OK !!!

8. FAQs: 1. the logon username is the username and password of Ubuntu, but does not include the root account.

2. how to add a new user, sudo adduser, zhangsan, so that the account and password of zhangsan can be added.

3. the zhangsan@server.unknown is displayed after login and the Mail cannot be sent normally

Check the configuration of the/etc/hosts and/etc/hostname files. The most important thing is/etc/hostname.

If my server name is server domain name is com, then the mailbox address of my server is XXXX@server.com

Ping server.com in Ubuntu to resolve the IP address of my server correctly. this resolution is not performed by the DNS on the internet.

It is resolved according to the settings in the local/etc/hosts.

Modify/etc/hostname on my server and set it to server.com. then log on to openwebmail.

Recognize my server email address as a XXXXX@server.com.

4. how to change the password in OpenWebMail: Click "personal template settings" and then click "change password" at the top of the page.
