On HPNC4400, Debian-Linux Release Technology-Debian information is used. The following is a detailed description. In the past few days, I have finally made up my mind to convert my notebook into Linux. adaptation requires a process, and many problems have been solved.

Why debian instead of more popular ubuntu? In fact, I just want to avoid relying too much on automatic management to give myself more hands-on opportunities. Indeed, there are really many opportunities for hands-on.

1. Set the time

The tzconfig command in etch can reset the time zone, but in the "sid" version, the tzconfig command has been canceled.

In fact, time zone-related files are nothing more

/Etc/timezone
/Etc/localtime
These two files.

In/etc/timezome, the set time zone is written, for example, Shanghai.
Localtime is a binary file corresponding to the binary file in/usr/share/zoneinfo. You can also create a link to the corresponding time zone file in/usr/share/zoneinfo /.

Ii. Debian system encoding Configuration
Debian is used by default.

"Zh_CN.UTF8 UTF8"
Because windows uses GBK by default, if you want to interact with windows, you have to use GBK.
Run the following command:

Dpkg-reconfigure locales
Go to the encoding configuration page and select

Zh_CN.GBK GBK
Encoding

"Zh_CN.UTF8 UTF8"
Remove. Select "zh_CN.GBK" for the default encoding.

Update: it is better to use UTF-8. Using GBK may cause many strange problems. For example, OpenOffice cannot find the document to be opened or the document name.
In fact, the interaction with windows does not necessarily require GBK. You only need to mount the windows partition to UTF8.
If your remote Linux server uses GBK, You can first

Export LANG = zh_CN.GBK
You can.

4. Change the font
Download the new font (such as) and place it in

/Usr/share/fonts/
Directory, and then run

Fc-cache
Command to set the system font in gnome's "desktop"-> "Preferences"-> "font"
