Use LaCieLightScribeLabeler in Ubuntu to burn light

There are a lot of LightScribeLabeler production software on Windows, such as SonicExpressLabeler, NeroCoverDesiner, SureThingCDLabeler, RoxioEasyMediaCreator (only NeroCoverDesigner), because Windows XP of VirtualBox cannot recognize its own Recorder, you cannot use many LightScribe Labeler production software on the NeroCoverD Windows platform, such as Sonic Express Labeler, Nero Cover Desiner, SureThing CD Labeler, and Roxio Easy Media Creator (only used Nero Cover Designer ), because Windows XP of VirtualBox does not recognize its own recorder, it is impossible to use Nero Cover Designer to create LightScribe Labeler.

Fortunately, google found LaCie LightScribe Labeler, a Linux-based tag logging software, which is easy to use.

First download LightScribe Host Software v1.4.113.1 for Linux and LaCie LightScribe Labeler for Linux

The official website only provides download of rmp packages. Ubuntu is based on Debian and only supports deb files. To install rmp packages in Ubuntu, you must first convert the rpm package to the deb file.

Command installation process:
// Install alien. alien is a file conversion tool used between rpm, dpkg, stampede slp, and slackware tgz formats.

Sudo apt-get install alien

// Convert the rmp package
Sudo-I alien lightscribe-1.4.136.1-linux-2.6-intel.rpm
Sudo alien-I 4L-1.0-r6.i586.rpm

// Install the deb file generated by the above command, note that the lightscribe_1.4.136.1-1_i386.deb must be installed first, and then install 4l_1.0-1_i386.deb

Sudo dpkg-I lightscribe_1.4.136.1-1_i386.deb
Sudo dpkg-I 4l_1.0-1_i386.deb

// After the installation is complete, enter 4L-gui in the command line to bring up LaCie LightScribe Labeler of the graphic interface for tag creation. Note that non-root users must use sudo, otherwise, the message "Printing requires root privileges" is displayed during print. the root user permission is required for Printing.

Note: 1. to burn a tag, you must flip the disc and place the tag face down on the optical drive tray.

2. LightScribe labels can only be monochrome (grayscale)

PS. printing labels is slow. After initialization, the printing process takes 20 minutes.
