Article Title: Linux internal competition from Novellvs. RedHat. Linux is a technology channel of the IT lab in China. Includes basic categories such as desktop applications, Linux system management, kernel research, embedded systems, and open source.

When talking about the war of Linux in the market and people's ideas, we are more likely to think about the competition between Linux and Microsoft Windows or Sun's Solaris on servers, or you can compete with Windows on the desktop, and calculate Mac OS X as a battle object far away. This is a fact, but do not forget there is a more intense war: competition between Linux versions.

For example, some Debian developers envy the number of people using Ubuntu, and some developers feel that Ubuntu is not enough for Linux. As long as you are in the Linux circle, such a debate is endless.

One phenomenon seen in the Linux Industry is that Novell is constantly warming up and competing with the top Linux version: Red Hat. Novell announced a new donation and support project in November 11: "to help users migrate from their existing third-party Linux version to SLES (SUSE Linux Enterprise Server)", interestingly, when you plan to migrate to SLES, a three-year SLES donation will provide two years of technical support for your existing Linux configurations.

This is really novel. I have never seen other vendors help users move from other products to their own products and provide technical support. This is really interesting. But it is still Linux. Novell uses ZENworks to process and manage, while Red Hat uses its Red Hat Network to do the same thing. The two are very different, but under these two top-level management tools, A good Linux administrator, whether running SLES or RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux), has no trouble.

Novell said, "The new project is designed to respond to the increasing demand for help from users, because they are operating from existing third-party versions such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux and CentOS, it is difficult to migrate to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server." In a statement, Justin Steinman, Novell's product market and solution director, said, "With the maturity of the Linux market, Novell has benefited from its excellent support and excellent operability in hybrid resource environments, more and more customers want to migrate to SUSE Linux Enterprise. This new project will make this approach easier for users."

Novell then announced that "A survey conducted by Lighthouse Research, an independent third-party Research company, shows that Novell has the highest overall support rate, obviously, the timeliness of telephone support and open-source and patented software hybrid platforms exceeds that of Red Hat and Oracle Linux."

I have used Novell and Red Hat. Frankly speaking, they are all great. I cannot say which one is better. Sorry, Novell and Red Hat do better than Oracle Linux support team. One thing Novell does better than Red Hat is that with Novell's cooperation with Microsoft, Novell SLES is able to work with Windows Server 2003,200 8 and such as AD (Active Directory) and other related server/network services.
