Visual Studio supports hybrid cross-platform mobile development with Cordova

Microsoft has added local support for hybrid cross-platform mobile applications in visual Studio Update 2.

Microsoft started working with PhoneGap as early as 2011, when it was to support Windows Phone Mango, and then Microsoft began contributing code to the Cordova project. Now Microsoft is integrating Cordova into their tools. At this year's North American Technology Conference, Microsoft released visual Studio Update 2, and Microsoft released other new features, including deep support for Apache Cordova to enable developers to use HTML5, CSS and JavaScript create hybrid apps for iOS, Android, Windows Store and Windows Phone.

Unlike previous support for local applications through the Xamarin tool, Microsoft has created its own multi-device hybrid application (MDHA) extension for Visual Studio this time. Mdha not only provides a rich editor, but also provides templates for JavaScript and typescript, as well as the ability to select frames (including angular, Backbone, Bootstrap, underscore, WinJS). The new version also provides a series of sample applications: Angular, Backbone, WinJS.

Developers can build and deploy applications on a variety of devices, simulators, or web-based emulators. Applications are tested by default using the Apache Ripple emulator before deploying an app to a device. Mdha can be used for advanced debugging of Windows Store or Android 4.4 applications. Deploying and running in the iOS emulator on Mac OS X can be implemented through Visual Studio with the help of node. js Vs-mda-remote package.

Mdha integrates with many Microsoft cloud services, including Azure mobile services, Azure AD, Application Insights, and Office 365.

Another solution to creating a hybrid mobile application in Visual Studio is to use the Xamarin Portable Razor tool, which is a lightweight implementation of the ASP. NET MVC API for mobile devices. Xamarin has written a sample application that demonstrates how to write iOS and Android apps using C #, local APIs, and web technologies.
