Article Title: Why don't I buy a tablet in the popular Linux camp. Linux is a technology channel of the IT lab in China. Includes basic categories such as desktop applications, Linux system management, kernel research, embedded systems, and open source.

Although Apple's iPad is selling like a hot spot, Google Chrome, Novell SUSE, and Canonical Ubuntu do not plan to take the tablet device first.

In the netbook market, the Linux camp, which was held high and heavily broken; the pace of restructuring into the personal computer market is obviously much more conservative and cautious. Jane Silber, chief executive officer of Canonical, Ubuntu's business service sponsor, said in an interview that although tablet computers are the focus of Computex, while mobile networks are growing rapidly, all devices have the opportunity. Therefore, Canonical is still observing the subsequent development of tablet computers to determine whether to support them.

"The focus of Ubuntu at this stage is to seek cooperation with more OEM/ODM vendors to achieve an early profit or loss," said Silber.

Not only Ubuntu is reserved for tablet computers. Sundar Pichaiu, vice president of Google product management, also said that the first device using Chrome OS would be a product that consumers are used to, that is, laptops. As for the Chrome tablet, it is not so fast to come out.

Novell is another one that plans to bring Linux tablets to the market next year. Guy Lunardi, director of the software pre-installed by Novell, said that the SUSE MeeGo would first go to the netbook, which is expected to be available in September, followed by tablets, and handheld devices would not be that fast.

Although the above Linux vendors did not explicitly express their initial intention to hesitate to give a tablet, there is something to infer in the words that Linux is not large enough in personal computer hosting, reluctant to place a bet on a tablet with unknown prospects.

Senior industry analyst from IDC's personal computing research department said that the key to winning tablet computers is that it has a lot to do with user interfaces. hardware manufacturers hope more and more people will assist in development. However, from the perspective of software vendors, products with the largest concentration can bring the greatest profit. From a global perspective, the shipment of laptops can reach 0.2 billion units a year, with nearly 8 million tablet computers and 3 to 40 million netbooks. The number is the core.

According to Bob Morris, director of ARM mobile computing, the tablet device market will grow to 21 million units next year, with more than 50% of arm-based products /.
