The WMM function of the wireless router and enabling AP isolation, and what is the use of opening SHORTGI
What do the wireless routers mean by opening WMM, opening short GI, and enabling AP isolation? This is the three options I see in the wireless advanced settings in my Tp-link wireless router tl-wr841n, explained below three points for these three wireless advanced settings.
1. Open WMM
The concept and usefulness of the WMM function: WMM itself is a sub-protocol of the Wireless Transmission protocol, if enabled, requires that the hardware linked to the routing (mobile, notebook, etc.) also need support to be able to link successfully.
and general hardware anyway, I tried. This sub-protocol is not supported so you need to turn off WMM to link successfully.
2. Open the short GI
English: GI: (Guard Interval) Chinese: protection interval: 802.11n improvement for 802.11a/g. This code is a conversion domain estimation algorithm based on OFDM system, which has the whole OFDM system and improved channel estimation algorithm simulation. Including LS, MMSE, LMMSE, DFT and improved DCT algorithm. RF chip in the use of OFDM modulation mode to send data, the entire frame is divided into different data blocks to send, in order to ensure the reliability of data transmission, there will be a GI between the blocks, so that the receiving side can correctly parse out the various data blocks. Wireless signal in the space transmission due to multipath and other factors on the receiving side of the formation of delay, if the subsequent data block sent too fast, and the previous data block formation interference, and GI is used to circumvent this interference. The GI duration of the 11a/g is 800US, while the short GI length is 400us, which can be increased by 10% in the case of the use of the fast GI. In addition, the short GI is bandwidth independent and supports 20MHZ, 40MHz bandwidth.
3. Turn on AP Isolation
APS isolate VLANs that are very similar to wired networks (virtual LANs), completely isolating all wireless client devices so that clients can access only the fixed network to which the APS are connected. The measure is ideal for wireless networking in large conference rooms, hotels, airports and other public places, keeping each connected wireless client isolated from each other and providing more secure access to each other. This measure does not have much practical meaning for home users, but enterprise users can use this method to enhance the security of wireless network in some special occasions. For example, there are public events such as meetings attended by customers or outside units. This method is used to set up hot spot of public hotspot such as hotel and airport, keep the wireless client in isolation, provide secure Internet access, for example, Zhengzhou Hi-tech Zone wireless network is based on the form of AP isolation, is to ensure the security of each access user.
Summary: AP isolation refers to the open, each connected computer can not access each other, play a role in isolation, to ensure the security of different users!
From the above we understand the respective roles of the three agreements, then do I need to choose? Home users are not required to select the above three, because there is no point, and for public occasions it is necessary to enhance the security of wireless networks need to turn on AP isolation mode.
