Zend Framework 1.7 focuses on RIA (Rich Internet applications) and Zend technology supports Adobe's AMF (mobile email format).
The Zend framework version 1.7, the latest version of the company's architecture for building PHP Web applications, was released in 2008 at the top Adobe conference in San Francisco. With the support of AMF, PHP developers can exchange data between the PHP application on the server and the flex and flash applications of the client.
Wil Sinclair, development manager at the Zend Senior Technology group, said: "It's easier to develop ADOB Flex and air (consolidated runtime) applications using PHP." ”
The company says other features of the Zend Framework 1.7 also include performance enhancements that add Bell to its loading time. In addition, it features a local DB2 adapter with access to the IBM I platform db2/400 data and an updated Dojo AJAX toolkit that includes a new Dijit editor. Although Zend chose Dojo as a support for its JavaScript library, Zend Company will provide a library integration service for JQuery Ajax.
The 1.7 version supports Twitter, so Twitter can still be used in Zend apps without requiring a Twitter interface.
The Zend Framework1.8 version is expected to be released at the beginning of the upcoming 2009 year, when the Zend Company will focus on RAD (Rapid application development) to make the application easier. Tools such as the command line interface will be provided.
