The new generation Dell PowerEdge server portfolio - now including five blades, rack and tower servers - gives customers a broad range of options to help them cope with industry trends such as cloud computing, mobility, big data and software definition. The new PowerEdge server follows three fundamental principles, including accelerating application performance, boosting workloads in any environment, and simplifying system administration. With these three improvements, customers can connect traditional with new IT models to prepare for the adoption of innovative technologies and the optimization of new applications in the data center.

In the opening keynote speech, Dell Greater China Enterprise Solutions Marketing Director Peng Yuheng said Dell listened to customers, the first PowerEdge server in 1994 came out, in 2000 shipments reached 1 million units. Dell currently less than six months to reach 1 million units shipments. In the past three years, Dell's server shipments in the Chinese x86 server market ranked first.

Brian Payne, executive director of Dell PowerEdge server platform marketing

Next, Brian Payne, executive director of marketing for Dell PowerEdge server platforms, details the next-generation server features: storage near compute nodes and management costs savings. Brian Payne said that mobile and convergence are the trend of enterprise IT. We have to deal with all these new changes in IT, the new trend requires business users in the underlying infrastructure to conduct a thorough reform, which is the dedication of Dell's goal.

Software definitions are now a new trend, said Brian Payne, a new generation of Dell PowerEdge server products driving the adoption of software-defined storage in the server space. Cao Zhiping, general manager of Dell China Enterprise Solutions

In his keynote speech, Cao Zhiping, general manager of Dell China Enterprise Solutions, introduced Dell's vision and strategy, as well as Dell's enterprise-class solutions. Cao Zhiping said the new PowerEdge server products with special emphasis on simplification and automation. The new PowerEdge server introduces NFC technology for administrators to manage better, and Dell has been working hard to serve customers of all types of industries.

The first Dell PowerEdge servers based on the latest Intel Xeon processor E5 2600 v3 series include the PowerEdge R730xd, R730 and R630 rackmount servers, the M630 blade server, and the T630 tower server. Combining Dell's end-to-end enterprise infrastructure products, software and services, the new generation of Dell PowerEdge servers delivers dramatic operational efficiencies and flexibility for any scale and most demanding applications and environments.

Storage is closer to the compute node

The new generation of Dell PowerEdge servers leverages modern storage technology to bring storage closer to compute nodes and dramatically improve application performance.

With an economical 1.8-inch SATA flash drive, the Dell PowerEdge R630 delivers 2.4 times the IOPS (input / output operations per second) in the same footprint as a 2.5-inch SATA SSD. Compared to the previous generation server, the Dell PowerEdge R730xd provides up to 100TB of storage for workloads such as Microsoft Exchange and a 50% increase in mailbox capacity.

A new generation of Dell PowerEdge server storage technology allows customers to:

Dramatically improve performance and accelerate critical data processing with NVMe Express Flash and deploying Dell Fluid Cache for SAN and Dell SanDisk DLC Cache for SanDisk.

Double RAID performance with optional dual PERC9 controllers to partition large data sets.

Hierarchical hybrid storage provisioning within compute nodes to support software-defined storage and optimized data distribution.

Dell also introduced direct-attached storage products developed for the new generation of Dell PowerEdge servers. Compared to the previous generation, the new Dell Storage MD1400 and MD1420 provide more cost-effective storage expansion with up to 2x in bandwidth, as well as data security from self-encrypting drives (SEDs) and seamless data management between server and storage , A substantial increase in performance.

Save a lot of management costs

The new generation of Dell PowerEdge servers provide greater automation management capabilities to enable administrators to monitor and repair data centers anywhere using any handheld device. OpenManage Systems Management Portfolio also offers:

Enhanced server native management from anywhere: iDRAC Quick Sync, introduced by Dell, was the first NFC-enabled server to allow customers' mobile workers to reduce their inventory system up to 84%. For a locally-managed client, simply connect it to a server and pass server health and basic server setup information through a handheld running OpenManage Mobile. OpenManage Mobile also enables administrators to use their mobile devices to monitor and manage their environment from anywhere, anytime.

Higher automation management capabilities: Administrators can automate deployment with zero touch to save time and increase efficiencies, such as storing, accessing, and deploying server configuration data or firmware updates from a central repository. Dell's Zero-Touch Repository Manager and auto-update feature reduced firmware update time by 92%.
