Analysis says market capacity for cloud security services will increase by 60% in 2018

According to foreign media reports, Infonetics Research, a market researcher, noted in its report that in 2013 the global security management services market amounted to $14.3 billion trillion, up 11% from 2012 (11% per cent in 2012). About 56% of global security services revenue in 2013 came from client-side equipment (CPE), compared with 44% based on cloud computing.

The report also shows that Content security services account for approximately half of all cloud-based security services sales. By the end of 2018, the biggest source of revenue for security services is expected to be large institutions. The Global cloud-based security services business is expected to grow by 60% over the next five years (2013 – 2018) and increase to $10 billion in 2018.

The study also found that distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks are prompting businesses of all types and sizes to start researching the defenses of distributed denial of service, which will mostly be hosted or cloud-based, similar to what Prolexic and VeriSign provide. The report noted that there was widespread interest in the sector: it was confirmed when Akamai acquired Prolexic in 2013. Cloud based distributed denial of service attack defense services are expected to be the fastest growing types of services covered by the report, including management firewalls, content security, intrusion prevention and detection systems, and distributed denial of service attack defenses.
