EMarketer predicts 2014 Chinese retail e-commerce sales will reach $426.26 billion trillion, including non-tourism goods and services purchased online through a variety of equipment. The index grew 35% from 2013, accounting for 10.1% of the country's retail sales. By 2018, China's retail e-commerce market will add up to more than $1.011 trillion trillion, which will account for 16.6% of retail sales, and twice times more than the US in the world's second-largest e-commerce market.

China's e-commerce is mainly dominated by local and consumer-to-consumer retail companies, and the consumer e-commerce giant is Alibaba. According to QQSURVEY2014 's July survey of Chinese digital buyers, the website with the highest online purchases was owned by Alibaba, with 72% per cent of respondents using Consumer-to-consumer platform Taobao, and the use of consumer platform cat and Jingdong respectively accounted for 42.6% and 39.8%.

In addition to the three leading e-commerce sites, among the top 10 e-commerce sites are the "one shop" (all of which is the consumer website of the company), Alibaba's Discount website "The United States Network", electronic retailer "Su Ning", "Alibaba", discount retailer "only Product", Amazon China Network.

According to Qqsurvey's survey of Chinese digital buyers, clothing and textiles are the most popular products for online shopping. The study found that 78.8% of respondents had purchased clothing, shoes, hats or similar accessories within three months. CNNIC's November 2013 survey also found that clothing and accessories were the most popular category for online shopping, with 75.6% per cent of respondents saying they had bought the goods online.
