Xiaochu, Deputy Minister of Human Resources Social Security, said September 10 that the state is still studying the issue of retirement age.  Xiaochu this in response to a question from reporters at the publication of the "Human resources situation in China" white paper today. Xiaochu said the issue of raising the retirement age requires a comprehensive consideration of the demographic changes and employment situation in China.  "We have now noticed that some countries abroad have studied, discussed or decided to raise the age of retirement, and we note that there is a certain controversy abroad," he said.  According to statistics, women in the Chinese workforce have surpassed 45.4% in 2008, Xiaochu said. In addition, Yin Chengki, spokesman for the Ministry of PICC, also admitted that the Chinese economy is still affected by the financial crisis, and that China will still face enormous employment pressure and the problem of rapidly aging society.
