(Reporter Liu Ying flower) December 2010, China's trade surplus unexpectedly narrowed sharply. Yesterday, the General administration of customs released data showed that December 2010, the first monthly import and export scale of more than 290 billion U.S. dollars. Among them, the export of 154.15 billion U.S. dollars, imports of 141.07 billion U.S. dollars, are the second consecutive month to refresh the new single month highs, year-on-year growth of 17.9% and 25.6% respectively. December month trade surplus of 13.08 billion U.S. dollars, the year-on-year decrease of 28.9%. This led to the 2010 annual trade surplus of 183.1 billion U.S. dollars, down 6.4%, analysts said the change is conducive to easing the pressure on the appreciation of the renminbi. Data show that China's foreign trade has returned to the level before the financial crisis. China's foreign trade imports and exports amounted to 2,972,760,000,000 U.S. dollars in 2010, up 34.7% from a year earlier, with exports of 1,577,930,000,000 U.S. dollars, a 31.3% increase, imports of 1,394,830,000,000 U.S. dollars, a 38.7% increase, and a trade surplus of 183.1 billion dollars, down 6.4% per cent. Zhou Mingjian, deputy director of the Gototimes Securities Institute, said this proved that the shift in China's trade approach is moving in the right direction, and that the pressure on the surplus small renminbi to appreciate will be mitigated. Analysts say China's imports are expected to continue to grow steadily over the past 2011 years. The Chinese government has said several times in recent days that it has widened its import channels for commodities such as grain and cotton to ease domestic supply pressures.
