In China, what is the "middle income" group, whether it is the official or the academic field of positioning has always been different from the standard "Caixin net" (reporter Lanfang) China's middle class in the proportion? The Asian Development Bank (ADB) recently issued a report, "key indicators for Asia and the Pacific 2010," which, according to its criteria, estimates that China's middle class is 817 million in absolute terms. The report contains a special chapter describing "The rise of the middle class in Asia". The report defines the middle class as a people who spend 2-20 of dollars a day. According to this standard, which is far below Western standards, Asia's middle class accounted for 56% of Asia's total population in 2008, 1.9 billion people. However, the ADB has classified these middle classes as "low-level", "middle" and "senior". 303 million of China's "middle class" belong to the lower middle class, the economy is slightly stronger than the poor, and once they encounter any major crisis, they can easily relapse into poverty. But many Chinese scholars think that the proportion of the middle class is far less than this. The study of social structural changes in contemporary China, a sociology Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, argues that China's middle class can account for 23%. July 27, 2010 by the Beijing University of Technology and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Literature Press jointly released the "2010 Beijing Society Construction Analysis Report" that the middle class in Beijing accounted for more than 40% of the proportion of social strata, about 5.4 million people. Yang Yiyong, director of the National Development and Reform Commission's Institute of Social Research, said, "What is a middle-income group, the official in 2004 had a standard: per capita income of 20,000 yuan, that is, the average household revenue of more than 60,000 yuan, that is, middle-income. At that time about 20% of the group met this standard. In his view, the more appropriate criterion is a population of one-third segments in the income structure of a district, rather than the middle One-third segment of the population structure of a District resident in the traditional sense. Regardless of the statistical caliber, China's social structure is far from the ideal "olive type". It is generally believed that a society should have 60%-70% of the population (or family) belonging to the middle class, such a society is stable. August 23, the National People's Congress of the Financial and Economic Commission to the NPC Standing Committee on the distribution of national income in the special Research report, again, to gradually form the distribution pattern of the majority of middle-income earners. And what is the "middle income" group, whether the official or academic circles always have different standards. As one of the main contents of the reform of China's income distribution, "enlarging" has resulted in microscopic results over the years. Yang Yiyong said that the government could make a difference in "lifting the low" and "increasing the height", but the administrative means could not artificially enlarge the middle class. In his view, the premise of "enlargement" is the formation of a professional society. On the one hand, we should start with the investment of human resources, rely on education to cultivate professional groups, on the other hand, we need to express the right of occupational groups and negotiate games, such as establishing a reasonable wage consultation system. The widening of the middle class will be a long process.
