The arrival of the cloud era, global IDC has brought a sharp increase in global data volumes, which will double every two years, with nearly 20% per cent of data being managed by cloud computing information service providers by 2015, with about 10% of the information left in the cloud, according to agencies. Facing these challenges, Mr. Shang, deputy director of the CICC data service, points out that cloud computing is the only effective way to deal with big data challenges.
It is for this reason that the industry has given high priority to cloud computing, and international IT companies have launched their own cloud strategy to occupy sites in the cloud computing ecosystem. According to incomplete statistics, 2010 of mergers and acquisitions related to the case has reached more than 20 cases, VMware, CA, SAP, HP, EMC and other related acquisitions.
Midha Amit Midha, President of the Asia Pacific and Japan region, said Dell plans to set up 20 data centers in Asia to meet the needs of users in the region for private and public clouds. Midha said it was important to locate data centers in key countries because of the rules relating to data movement abroad. He added that customers need private clouds and public clouds. Dell is offering both products. The transition will be running for years to come.
Dell also sees the demand for its equipment and design in a large number of data centers, particularly in the Chinese region. Midha said China is building a large number of data centers for use by governments and businesses, including start-ups.
Dell will also start delivering service delivery capacity in Asia this year. To date, Dell has largely provided this capability in the United States as well as in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
With Dell's services expanding in Asia, Dell is also planning to use its 23,000 employees in India. These people do service work such as external applications and projects. These people have so far been outsourcing customers in the U.S. and Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Midha said.
China may also be a hub for services in the Asian region, especially for South Korea, Japan and the local market.
