David Linthicum is the CTO of the Bick Group and a recognized expert in the business computing community. Over the past decade, he has focused on technology and strategy research related to cloud computing and how to make cloud computing a better service to modern companies.
For information control, scalability, burst requirements, and failover requirements. Mixing and matching private clouds and shared clouds is a good thing.
We've built some cloud computing models: Private cloud, shared cloud, public cloud, and mixed cloud. According to the definition of national standards and Technology Institute, many enterprises have adapted to these patterns in different and more complex directions. Recently, cloud computing development plans began around the entire architecture support, around mixed clouds, or mixed, matching various cloud computing models.
The hybrid cloud, as its name suggests, is a combination of cloud, private cloud and/or public cloud in the target architecture. Because of security and control reasons, not all enterprise information can be placed on the public cloud, so most of the companies that have applied cloud computing will use the mixed cloud model. Many will choose to use both public and private clouds, and some will also build public clouds.
Interestingly, it is not that private clouds and shared clouds are fragmented, but that private and shared clouds work together. Here is a classic example of using storage, database, and service processing in a private cloud, while at the same time using a common cloud to complete data processing requirements at peak demand without having to purchase additional hardware. At present, many enterprises have been towards this kind of centralized cloud (cloud-bursting) architecture, and this is the key to maximize the benefits.
Because the cloud will only charge you for the resources you use, centralizing the cloud will become a very inexpensive way to handle peak demand. For some retailers, for example, their operational needs will increase with the arrival of holidays, or some businesses will have a seasonal rally.
At the same time, the hybrid cloud provides a good basis for other flexible requirements, such as disaster recovery. This means that the private cloud takes a common cloud as a platform for disaster transfer and uses it when needed. This is a very cost-effective concept. Another good idea is to use a shared cloud as a selective platform while selecting other common clouds as a disaster-transfer platform.
Of course the configuration and the way behind these methods are many. The data show that most companies using cloud computing will be using several types of hybrid clouds, many of which are simply too complex.
No matter how long you've been in the IT industry, you'll realize that none of this is new: it's just a redistribution and consolidation of your existing IT resources. However, in the choice of cloud architecture, we have more mixed cloud such an option.
