Dialogue with former US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson: The challenge for China is to make more people enjoy development

Moderator Guanjing: Hello to Secretary Paulson.　　Last year you attended the Boao Forum for Asia, this year is your second time to participate in the forum, as the Forum's director, you will be in the forum and discuss what you are concerned about topics? Paulson: First of all, I am looking forward to the Boao Forum for Asia. This is the tenth year of the Boao Forum for Asia. The forum was attended by leaders from all walks of life in Asia and around the world. We see the leaders of the five countries and the CEOs of the world's major companies. I am most looking forward to talking with you about what is going on in the world today, especially what is happening in China. The Forum will certainly discuss international economic issues. One topic I am interested in is China's "Shi Guos" program.　　The plan puts forward the challenges that China's economic growth model will face, which I think is very good. Moderator Guanjing: We know that the theme of the Boao Forum for Asia in 2011 is "inclusive development".　　Can you talk about your views on "inclusive development"? Paulson: To be sustainable, it is important to ensure that more groups in society enjoy the benefits of development. China has always emphasized harmonious development, its aim is to let more people enjoy the benefits of development. Income imbalance is a problem existing all over the world, there is a huge gap between rich and poor. In China, we see thousands of people out of poverty and a growing middle class. The challenge for China now is to make more people enjoy development and to ensure the sustainability of development. In order to develop sustainable, we should use clean energy, and pay attention to environmental protection.
