The big data industry will bring nearly hundreds of billions of dollars in IT spending this year, according to a study published today by Gartner, a leading market research firm, on October 18, 2012.
In its report, Gartner predicts that this year, big data will push up to $96 billion trillion in direct or indirect global IT spending, which is expected to reach $232 billion by 2016.
The main conclusions of the Gartner Research report are as follows:
1, large data is not a completely different market. In fact, data is ubiquitous and affects business in every possible way. The production of large data will require companies to make changes in their products, business practices and solutions. This change is so fast that the solution that does not reach the required solutions will have to be abandoned in advance.
2, 2012, the large number of functional requirements of the cost of IT spending will reach 28 billion U.S. dollars. Most of these will be used to improve existing solutions to accommodate the new requirements of large data.
3, the demand for large data to be used in this year will bring the relevant software 4.3 billion U.S. dollars in sales. The remainder will flow to IT service providers such as external experts and internal employees.
4. Up to 45% of the annual IT spending will go to social media, social networking analytics and content analysis.
5, the provision of support for large data-related services costs are high, approximately equivalent to 20 times times the amount of software sales. Talents with corresponding skills are scarce, but demand is high.
