October 21 News, according to foreign media reports, U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said the G20 finance ministers will be held at the weekend to promote global economic rebalancing efforts to reduce the global economic dependence on U.S. consumers, and hope that G20 will be able to make progress on currency policy norms, and will work to persuade other finance ministers.　　In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Mr Geithner said there was a strong need to agree on guidelines on currency policy, saying there was no fair standard at present. He also said the United States would urge developed and developing countries in G20 to use quantitative criteria to measure whether trade deficits or surpluses were "sustainable" and to measure progress towards a more balanced global economic growth goal.
