People's Daily, Hong Kong, December 28 (Xinhua Li Haiyuan) Hong Kong International Airport announced 28th that the first time the passenger and cargo throughput exceeded 50 million passengers and 4 million tonnes respectively, refreshing the annual passenger and cargo records. A spokesman for the AA said that it would continue to upgrade its capacity to cope with future growth and maintain a high standard of service.  To this end, the AA will commence a midfield development programme in early 2011 with additional facilities including a new passenger corridor and 20 parking bays completed in 2015. The Hong Kong International Airport 2030 planning outline will also be published in the first half of next year, including whether to construct a 3rd runway and consult the public before the middle of next year. ★
