Microsoft's Live @ edu service will launch more than 10,000 technical colleges and institutions in India. It will be more than 7 million students, 500,000 teachers in use.
All India's Technical Education Committee (AICTE) and Microsoft announced today that it will need to be deployed in 3 months, and full deployment is expected to take place by the summer of 2012.
Live @ edu provides Free university services that allow tens of millions of students worldwide access to Outlook e-mail, storage space, and document collaboration tools, including Office Web apps and SkyDrive.
Microsoft Office 365 will be deployed later this year. Microsoft currently has more than 220,000 people using student-centric services.
AICTE is also looking for IBM and Google services, with Google Apps for educational services. But the decision to choose Microsoft is the largest cloud deployment ever. Some colleges and universities have avoided Google's services on the grounds of lack of security and reduced the control of user data.
India's rapid economic activity and growth means the country needs to stay ahead, and globally, Indian students will define the next generation of technology industries as the country continues to innovate and progress.
The university's communication outsourcing has been extremely important, especially after the 2008-2010 global recession, in some cases the academic budget cut half, the tuition increase offset the balance in Britain and the United States.
